Press & media
Information for journalists and editors covering education, technology and family life. If you are writing about KS2 SATS, children's app design or game-based learning, we would be glad to help.
SATS LION is a brand new independent product, just launching in the United Kingdom. We have built this page to make a reporter's job easier: a quotable boilerplate, the subjects we are genuinely placed to talk about, and a single contact who will reply. We will not pad it with numbers we do not have. When we have something real to share, you will find it here first.
1. About SATS LION (boilerplate)
You are welcome to quote the paragraph below in full or in part.
SATS LION turns Key Stage 2 spelling, punctuation and grammar into a daily ten-minute quest for Year 6 children in England, coached by a pixel-art lion called Leo. It is game-first by design, so practice feels like play rather than a worksheet, and the questions are aligned to the KS2 statutory framework and reviewed by people. Sold to parents and offered to schools, SATS LION is built data-minimal to the UK's Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children's Code): a child's profile holds no more than a first name and year group, an adult holds the account and consents on the child's behalf, and there are no adverts and no selling of data. SATS LION is made by SATS LION Ltd, registered in England and Wales.
A shorter line, where space is tight: SATS LION is a UK app that turns KS2 SPaG revision into a daily ten-minute quest for Year 6, built game-first and to the Children's Code.
2. Quick facts
- What it is: a gamified KS2 SATS revision app, focused at launch on spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG).
- Who it is for: Year 6 children in England, with accounts held by a parent or a school.
- How it works: short daily sessions, around ten minutes, that adapt to what a child has and has not yet mastered.
- Where it runs: phone, tablet and the web browser, so schools can use it on Chromebooks with nothing to install.
- The company: SATS LION Ltd, an independent business registered in England and Wales.
- Status: brand new and just launching. We have no user numbers, ratings or press coverage to report yet, and we will not invent any.
3. Topics we are happy to talk about
We are a small, hands-on team, so we will only speak to what we actually know. The areas below are ones we can discuss in depth, on the record or as background.
Building to the Children's Code
What it means in practice to design a children's product data-minimally: collecting as little as possible, putting an adult on the account, and treating privacy as the default rather than a setting.
Game-based learning
Why revision can feel like a game without becoming a slot machine: the difference between healthy motivation and dark patterns, and how short daily practice is structured for Year 6.
The pressure of KS2 SATS
How the tests land on families and children, the worry they can cause at home, and what calmer, lower-stakes preparation can look like.
Building in public, solo
The reality of launching an independent UK edtech product as a small team: the choices, the constraints, and why we are starting with one tight slice rather than everything at once.
4. Press contact
For interviews, comment, fact-checking or a quick background chat, email press@satslion.com. Please tell us your outlet, the angle and your deadline, and we will come back to you as quickly as we can.
For anything that is not a media enquiry: general questions go to hello@satslion.com, schools and pilots to schools@satslion.com, and data or privacy matters to privacy@satslion.com.
5. Brand assets and logo
Our logo, the Leo the Lion character art and screen images are available to accredited press on request. Email press@satslion.com and let us know the formats you need, for example transparent PNG or vector files, and where the piece will run, and we will send a tidy pack along with simple usage notes.
A small ask in return: please refer to the product as "SATS LION" and the company as "SATS LION Ltd", and do not alter the logo's colours or proportions. If you are unsure whether a use is fine, just ask.
6. A note on accuracy
Because we have only just launched, please do not attribute user figures, awards, rankings or prior coverage to SATS LION: there are none yet, and we would rather a story be right than flattering. If a claim about us is not on this page or confirmed by us directly, please check it with us first. We are always happy to verify a detail before you publish.
On a deadline?
Email press@satslion.com with your outlet, angle and timing, and we will get back to you quickly.
